This is the story about shepherd woman from the highland of Pshavi region. 23 years old Mariam was born and grew up in the village Tkhiliani, where being shepherd is considered as man’s job. Despite stereotypes, she is happy to be the only woman shepherd in the village, which time by time is being left by the more and more locals. On weekend, Mariam works in Tbilisi, in the hospital as a nurse. In the story it is deeply discussed, how professions in Georgia are divided into genders and how employees are treated according to gender, including salaries. Experts provide their opinion, how inequality effects countries economic development.
